ancestors were in the wine and spirit trade in leith, i thought
that a leith pub might provide some insight into the family history.
the ancestors in question were the hill family, john (in the last
century) and his son stanley, who, apparently, ran various pubs
in the leith area. anyone remember the hill family? please ask

i have converted a downstairs room in my house into a kind of
private beer bar for our close group of friends, total number
of people who are "members" is over 75 now. we meet
practically daily, and i even barbecue for the lot once a week.
now, i have decorated the walls and counter tops with beer stuff
i picked up during my stay in england at the university of sheffield.
however, for a room this big, the stuff i have is no where near
enough, and hence my need to contact you guys. could i request
you to send me your surplus beer promo materials for putting up
in my bar room ? even your old stuff that you would otherwise
throw away will be appreciated. i mean, practically anything will
do, even banners, etc. i had a three meter banner with "beer
festival now open" written in bright red print. this was
a gift from my friends in sheffield, england, at "the white
swan". however, this is no longer with me. i have beer towels,
counter top towels, mats, coasters, overflow trays, posters, crown
caps, labels, mock up cans, service trays, ash trays, stick pins,
t-shirts, hats, etc. etc. i would really really appreciate any
help you could offer. it goes without saying that you have a standing
open invitation to the bar when ever anyone from your organisation
visits bombay, and the same invitation is gratefully extended
to all your members. i mean it. beer drinkers are welcome. just
drop me a line on the e-mail to let me know when you are expected.
