8 October 1999 This one is for the four of us, Kerry, Al, Stuart and myself - who sat in the bar for those two gut-wrenching hours while we didn't know. But now we do. Percy is either in Heaven, or has ceased to be, depending on your belief-system. But what isn't in doubt is the period when he could have "gone either way." All cultures, and even modern scientific medicine, acknowledge this time of "limbo" for seizures such as that, and the similarity of the experience. "Do you think he could live?" I asked Stuart, repeatedly, urgently, desperately. "He'll live if he wants to live," he replied, simply. So, looking back, I now like to think that Percy did have that choice - that he was able perhaps look down on his battered and damaged frame - with big men pounding his chest and adrenaline needles stuck in his failing heart, and he made his decision. He walked into the Light. I guess he was tired. Thank you Stuart for your great help and friendship.
