NoPhos

Algae require trace quantities of phosphate to grow,  however in lakes and ponds the phosphate level can become too high which promotes the growth of algae.  A heavy bloom of algae can be very serious for the lake and could result in mass mortalities among the fish.  The phosphates will also promote the growth of cyanobacteria or blue-green algae which is not only unsightly but toxic.

We manufacture NoPhos from natural rare earth elements and have been using it to control phosphate and algae levels in public aquaria for many years.  The product is non toxic, so it doesn't control by killing the algae. Instead NoPhos reduces the amount of food or fertiliser and so slows down the growth of the the algae.

NoPhos will not completely eliminate the phosphate or algae in the water,  however it will make a huge difference  and help to keep water quality in control.

Calculations

NoPhos + PO4^-3 = NoPhos PO4 (s)

1kg of NoPhos will remove approximately 100g of Phosphate as PO4 -P

The amount of NoPhos required depends upon the volume of the lake and concentration of phosphate, from these two figures .   However as a guide   1 Kg of NoPhos may be required for a water volume ranging from 250 cubic metres to 5000 cubic metres of water.
